Welcome to our new PhD students for this year 2021 – Fatimah, Liberty and Juy

Welcome to our new PhD students starting in fall 2021 – Fatimah, Liberty and Juy.

Fatimah joins us from Saudi Aramco and she will work on calibrating novel isotope proxies, with a special focus on copper in the terrestrial and atmospheric environment. She will be a part of the CDT Advanced Surface Analysis and she be co supervised by Andreas Kafazis from the Chemistry Department.

Juy joins us from Imperial and he studies the impact of air pollution on ocean fertilization with focus on Thailand and the SE-Asian region. He will conduct in our labs experimental work determining dissolution and oxidation rates of iron minerals during atmospheric processing and he will implement the new experimental data into an atmospheric chemistry model under the guidance of Yves Plancherel.

Liberty is based in the Chemistry department and she will work on the development of novel resins to remove PFAS from contaminated groundwaters. She will conduct in our lab adsorption studies using batch and column experiments and she will do the synthetic work in Ramon Vilar’s group.  She is co-sponsored by Purrafin.
